Copper Mountain, Co
Our next stay was Copper Mountain. We picked Copper because we liked the concept of having a little village area and it was less expensive than staying in Breckenridge! We stayed at the Passage Point building in the village and had amazing views for working during the week! It seemed to snow everyday that we were there. On the Sunday/ Monday, Copper got about 9 inches of snow, the most in the area. See the series below to see the snow accumulation throughout the week!
(I forgot to take the same picture after the 27th)
On the 27th, we had the fire alarm go off. Don't worry, we didn't set it off. We waited a few minutes to leave because we didn't smell smoke but finally decided to leave when it didn't stop. A few people slowly started to gather outside and the fire department arrived 15 minutes later (FROM 2 BLOCKS AWAY- so thankfully it was accidentally set off by a construction crew in the building).
On the 28th we headed out for a post-work hike nearby at Gold Hill. This was about a two mile hike and we underestimated how chilly it would get once the sun went behind the mountains. During this we found an abandoned cabin, a lot of animal snow prints, beautiful views of the sunset, and got a lot of snow in our boots (mostly me). This was a hike I was glad I brought layers for!
Now.. all the animal tracks we saw. Ryan is convinced we saw a lynx.
After this hike we went back and de-thawed before heading to Breckenridge on Saturday to explore! See the post here about it.
