Keystone >> Copper Mountain (Loveland Pass Hike)
On Sunday, we had some time before heading to Copper Mountain and knew we wanted to do another hike. We picked up breakfast at our new favorite place, Steep (because it is so amazing they have breakfast, lunch, and dinner). We decided to do one that was only 10 minutes away but it started at an elevation of 11,990. This is about 2,000 higher than Keystone). We did not realize how much this change of elevation would influence the weather. (We also gained about 700 during the hike)
It was snowing, very very lightly in Keystone, and it did not stick but once we got to Loveland Pass (again, only 10 minutes away), it was snowing heavily and was way colder. This didn't stop us from doing the hike though! The hike we did was West Ridge Trail from Loveland Pass. We got pretty cold during the hike and very damp once the snow hit our legs and melted!
The views were amazing and very worth it! The only people we ran into on the trail were two people hoping to snowboard down! Ryan decided not to bring his camera on this hike because he didn't want it to get wet, which was a very smart decision!
On our way toward Copper Mountain after the hike, we saw the the Arapahoe Ski Basin had a run open (we later learned that it was their first day of the season)!
